Sideboard 71 in (doors and drawers)

A mid-century sideboard of 71 in on a recessed plinth: a door cabinet left and right, three drawers in the middle.

Schematic front view of the layout. The sizes in the cut list are what counts.

A classic three-way split: two roomy door bays each with a shelf, and a drawer block in the middle. The plinth is set back a little so the sideboard seems to float.

What makes this design special

The carcass sits on a plinth whose side panels run to the floor. The width is split into three columns with the drawers a little narrower than the door bays.

Material and sheets needed

Based on the panel sizes above, this project takes about 2 sheets of 3/4 in (18 mm) plywood and 1 sheet of 1/4 in (6 mm) plywood (back panel). Prices vary by country and store, so check your local supplier; the tool works out the exact number of sheets and can show real prices from its material library.
